Locked Doe

"For this people’s heart has grown dull, and with their
ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have
closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear
with their ears and understand with their heart
and turn, and I would heal them."  -  Mt. 13:15
I was photographing some does on our property from what I thought was a concealed position when this doe locked her eyes on me and positioned her ears to catch any sound. And then we had a standoff. She wasn't sure what I was but she was dead set on finding out. My eyes and her eyes bore into each other with neither set of eyes so much as blinking. The sound of my camera's shutter had given away my general location and her ears were poised to detect the slightest sound. We both were motionless for quite some time until I repositioned my feet. The movement and the sound gave me away. She won. And, in a flash, she was gone. Her eyes and her ears did what God had designed them to do perfectly. Our eyes and ears, unfortunately, often do not. Jesus stated that human eyes don't always see and human ears don't always hear. Physically, they do fine. Spiritually, they often don't. As many times as Jesus showed people who he was and told them what they needed to hear, many just didn't get it. It takes a heart touched by God to see and hear properly. If the heart is wrong, the eyes are blinded and the ears are deaf to the things of God. We can become calloused to spiritual truth and hardened toward the One we need to embrace. Eventually, we can reach a point of no return. Pray that God would change the hearts of those you care about, that he would give spiritual sight and hearing, that he would heal and save. These are things that only God can do. Ask that God would do it for others. Ask that he would do it for you. And if he already has, make sure you thank him for it.  -  John
